To achieve assessment excellence, we adhere to the following guiding principles:
- Objective assessment based on clear criteria of student knowledge and understanding.
- Regular analysis and reporting of student performance to inform the next steps in learning.
- Use of diverse assessment tools and strategies by teaching staff for a comprehensive view of student progress and achievement over time.
- Feedback is a crucial element in enhancing students' understanding of their own learning.
- Moderation is a tool to strengthen teacher judgments, track continuous growth, and exemplify success.
- Inclusion of student and parent voices in planning meaningful outcomes and aspirations.
- Assessment outcomes that provide reliable feedback on student progress.
Our teachers employ various strategies to monitor, document, and measure student progress and support planning for the next steps. Our assessment tools include:
- Setting long and short-term goals through Annual Reviews
- Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Feedback - Ongoing written and verbal feedback on student achievement engagement, and support levels for accessing learning
- Tracking progress across six Global Competencies
- Formative and summative assessment of curriculum and educational objectives including curriculum planning
- JCSRS Levels assessment
- Mid-year and End of Year Reports
- Recognising achievements through accredited courses provided by internationally recognised bodies, ASDAN and AQA. From Year 9, Students will start to build a portfolio of accredited units of work. Each student will gain AQA certificates during the year through the Unit Award Scheme (UAS). These certificates reflect our bespoke curriculum and allow students to showcase their learning when they leave school.
