Home Learning

We value parents as partners in the learning journey of our students. We also recognise that home learning looks different for each of our learners. JCSRS has a flexible framework for home learning to support the work in class.

Half-Termly Curriculum Updates

Teachers share the planned learning for each half-term block at the start of the block. This will be a list of the subjects and the overall theme or learning intention. At this time, teachers will also send a list of suggested activities to extend and support learning in school. Our home learning is designed to be practical and relevant.

Online learning platforms and apps

Teachers share specific online learning platforms or apps that target specific knowledge and skills. These platforms have student-specific login details. Some common examples are Seesaw, IXL, Reading Eggs, Epic, HelpKidzLearn.

Reading

Reading is assessed for all learners and appropriate resources are sent home to support development. This is personalised to each student and may include levelled readers and High Frequency Words to practise at home. In addition, all students access the library on a weekly basis to develop their love of reading through self-selected choices.

Please contact the class teacher if you have any questions about home learning.
