This week was Book Week at JCSRS, and students engaged in daily readings of stories from around the world.

On Wednesday, our very own Extra-Special Aunty, Sheila, came to read a story about the important role that migrant domestic workers play in the lives of children in Hong Kong. We deeply appreciate all the Aunties (and Uncles) who support our students. They are an incredibly important part of the JCSRS community.

Sales of the book 'My Extra-Special Aunty' also go towards an NGO supporting migrant domestic workers, and it is available in bookshops around Hong Kong.

Congratulations to our JCSRS Softball Team! 🥎

We are thrilled to announce that our softball team emerged victorious in the Po Leung Kuk Anita L. L. Chan (Centenary) School 8th Inclusive Softball Competition! The dedication shown during the two full-day practices alongside SIS and KGV Learning Support students truly paid off on competition day.

It was heartwarming to witness the friendships that have blossomed over the years among the returning ESF students, as well as the growth in their skills and understanding of the game.

We extend our sincere thanks to TWGHs Kwan Fong Kai Chi School and PLK Anita L. L. Chan (Centenary) School for their participation. A special acknowledgement goes to William Wong (PLKCS) for expertly organising the tournament and to the Hong Kong China Softball Association for the use of the Tin Kwong Road softball field.

🪭Talented dancers wowed us with a stunning fan dance, while amazing performers stole the show with energetic sword and lion dances, featuring students as the lion's head, tail, and a monk! ⚔️🦁

The energy was electric, and they ended on a sweet note by sharing laisees filled with blessings for the audience. 💖🧧

We’re so proud of their hard work and dedication to sharing such a vibrant cultural tradition! Kung Hei Fat Choy to everyone, and here’s to more unforgettable moments at JCSRS! 🎊

ESF All-Staff Conference

Monday, the 3rd of February, marked a historic moment for the ESF family as 2,700 staff members came together under one roof for the first time since ESF’s founding in 1967. This unprecedented gathering was a powerful celebration of ESF’s shared mission, vision, and collective commitment to shaping the future of education.

A standout moment of the week was the inspiring contribution of JCSRS secondary students, who arrived early to collaborate with ESF staff, putting their vocational training into action. Their professionalism, dedication, and ability to apply their skills in real-world scenarios left a lasting impression on everyone present. These students embody the transformative power of hands-on learning and the importance of equipping them for success beyond the classroom.

JCSRS was proudly represented on stage by Principal Anna Smakowska and JCSRS alumna Jessica Hudson. Alongside other panellists, they delved into the importance of personalisation in education - a core value at JCSRS. The discussion highlighted how tailoring learning experiences to individual needs, interests, and strengths empowers students to reach their full potential. This mission lies at the heart of everything JCSRS does, ensuring every student feels supported, valued, and prepared for the future.

This week has been a testament to the incredible work happening across ESF and the profound impact it has on students’ lives. Cafeteria:
We've brought a piece of Hong Kong into our school! The new mural in the cafeteria captures Kowloon's unique natural beauty, featuring local wildlife and greenery. Lunchtime is now a more immersive and enjoyable experience.

JCSRS's mission statement is now represented in a mural. It is a vibrant depiction of our commitment to have everyone happy, engaged, and learning.

Cafeteria:
We've brought a piece of Hong Kong into our school! The new mural in the cafeteria captures Kowloon's unique natural beauty, featuring local wildlife and greenery. Lunchtime is now a more immersive and enjoyable experience.
